About Anchorage Brewing Company

Anchorage Brewing Company is from Anchorage, Alaska, and was founded by brewer Gabe Fletcher. The brewery leaves plenty of room for experimentation, with beers that focus on hops, fermentation, aging, and unique combinations.

The range varies from IPA and saison to powerful stouts, barleywines, and mixed-fermentation beers. As a result, Anchorage offers several directions to explore, each with its own character.

Stouts and barleywines from Anchorage

With its more powerful releases, Anchorage explores imperial stout, barleywine, and combinations of these styles. For example, roasted malt can be paired with rich, caramel-like flavors and a full body.

Some releases include additional ingredients, such as vanilla or coconut. These add their own layer to the base beer. The balance between malt, sweetness, alcohol, and any additions varies per release.

These are beers to taste slowly. Give them some time in your glass and discover how the aromas develop.

Discovering fermentation and barrel aging

Anchorage also crafts beers with Brettanomyces and mixed fermentation. Here, various microorganisms contribute to the development of flavor, which can provide fruity, dry, earthy, or acidic nuances.

Fruit and barrel aging can further complement the character. A barrel-aged sour involves a different interplay of flavors than a powerful barrel-aged stout. With this, Anchorage shows that wood aging can produce many different results.

Also for IPA lovers

In addition to its richer and fermentation-focused beers, Anchorage makes various IPAs, including Double IPA, Triple IPA, and West Coast IPA.

These offer yet another introduction to the brewery, in which hop aromas and bitterness play an important role. Are you looking specifically for fruity aromas or perhaps a drier finish? Check the description of the available release to choose a suitable option.
